Over the past few days, I’ve been kicking around the idea of setting up a side project called Bad Hits, or just incorporate it into my current blog.  It would be a review of my autograph and memorabilia cards.  I was going through them yesterday and I have a lot of very ordinary game used cards and autographs.  I think it would be fun to catalog all these cards and to see just how worthless they are.  With the flood of game used cards into the market, they just aren’t worth anything.  If you go on eBay you would be shocked to see what could be purchased as far as game used for one dollar.  I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s better to just buy the game used cards on eBay instead of trying to find them in packs, mainly because the $3 I would spend on a pack would get me a game used card (shipping included).  So what I guess I am trying to find out is whether or not to put it on this site or start another blog (just what the world needs right)?  So if you are a regular reader of my site, please let me know through comments what you would like to see.  Does it fit in with the bad wax motif?  I’m so so sure and that’s why I would want to put it on another blog.  But I leave it totally in my readers hands if it goes into another blog I’ll set it up as like badhits.net or something like that.

Makes no nevermind to me as I would just add a new blog to my RSS reader. But have you considered the name “Foul Balls?”

That is a great name for a blog, but .com is a parked link and.netis already a chicago sports blog.

I like to collect a wide variety of cards. I also collect certain players and teams but when it comes to relic cards I’ll go for low price to get a card of a type I don’t have. And as you say, eBay is the place. The most I’ve paid for a relic card on eBay is the Willie Mays card from the 2003 Stadium Club Born in the USA set. I paid $27 for it. Beckett says its worth $60. The most I paid for an autograph is $48 for a Mike Schmidt card Beckett lists at $80. So even for top players you can find a bargain. So post your relic cards, I’d love to see them regardless of how you do it.

I think it would work on this site, because all bad hits have to come from bad wax sometime, don’t they?

Bad hits are a part of the bad wax experience. It’s just the definition of bad wax today.

Bad wax growing up was 1990 Donruss or 1989 Fleer. Today it’s more defined as a bad hit, with so many relic and autograph cards flooding the market now.

I’d say that belongs here. :)

Why does 1989 Fleer get no love? I thought it was great.

The thing I love about 1989 Fleer so much was how it was marketed. They let the Ripken card out and then whoops wouldn’t you know it, the chase was on! I can’t think of any product where one card sold so many boxes (except Upper Deck in 1989 with Griffey’s rookie).
