I agree that attendance has gone up in the last few years(not sure how it compares to twenty or thirty years ago). I feel that more of the older generation (baby boomers) are going to games since they are retired now and have the time and money to go to games. But how many people are actually watching baseball? Not as many as there once were. If you look at World Series rating they have declined over the last fourty years. It seems that the teams that are willing and capable of spending money on every free agent that comes on the market gets them and are stacked with talent. These doesn't mean they will win, but sure helps. It also means that teams without money can't keep their best players other than for a couple of years.

Baseball is NOT a dying sport.

I believe the lack of interest in your fantasy baseball league is not related to the actual game of baseball- and neither are impacted by football.

If you are trying to start a new fantasy league and don't have 9 to 11 friends and co-workers to join, you are facing the harsh reality of trying to get complete strangers to select your league over lord knows how many others. What makes your league more attractive?

I have cut back from managing five teams to only two, but that is because the other three leagues simply weren't competitive enough. Fantasy baseball becomes boring when a couple of managers throw in the towel at the All-Star break and the league begins to spiral into unevenness.

Now get back to bustin' your 86 Topps! Many of us have side bets on how close you will get to a complete set with only two boxes!

I agree that baseball is less popular with kids, as compared to football and basketball. But, attendance is better than ever(except in Florida) and there have been lots of different teams in the playoffs in recent years. Almost everyone has or is getting a new stadium. One problem is that teams like the Red Sox and Yankees may actually be getting smart with their money. I definitely think that revenue sharing could work if teams were forced to spend the money on players and had smart baseball minds working for them.
