Sorry for the extreme delay in getting this out to you today but I woke up with a severe migraine this morning and jut now, about 14 hours later it is going away. I missed work today and basically just laid in bed hoping to heck that it would go away. I have not missed a day since I started this blog on January 8th and I don’t intend on missing one today. So let’s get the show on the road and get this pack looked at. Yesterday’s nice pack yielded 13, I’m guessing I’m in for a disappointment on this one, pack number 56.
1. Roy Smalley SS- Twins – 613 – I actually remember Roy as a hard hitting short stop for the Yankees, but after looking at his stats, I see he was only with the Yanks for three seasons, and is mainly remembered as a Twin. In 1986 he was with the Twins and went 0.247/20/57, and if you look at his entire career, that is just about his average. He was that guy you pluged into the 7 hole in your lineup and he produced. Not a ton of production but for a 7 guy, he was good.
2. Rick Langford – P – A’s – 766 – Rick went through some serious arm injuries in 1983,84 and came back in 1985 and pitched some good innings with the A’s. In 1986 he was still with the A’s but put up this stinker 1-10/7.36/1.58. This led to his release and he never maid it back to the majors. He did however end up as a pitching coach and is even still coaching in that regard today.
3. Expos Leaders – 576 – Dean of the Expos is Andre Dawson which is ironic because it would be his last season as an Expo. The leaders for batting are Dawson and Raines, while the pitchers who did well were Bryn Smith and Jeff Reardon.
4. Mariners Leaders – 546 – Dean of the Mariners is Dave Henderson. The batting leaders were Phil Bradley and Gorman Thomas. While the pitching leaders were Mike Moore and Ed Nunez.
5. Andy Van Slyke – OF – Cardinals – 683 – Double, first reviewed in pack 6.
6. Alan Bannister – 2B/OF – Rangers – 784 – Double, first reviewed in pack 23.
7. Phil Garner – 3B – Astros – 83 – Double, first reviewed in pack 3.
8. Pete Rose 1975-1978 cards – 5 – Double, first reviewed in pack 48.
9. Chuck Porter – P – Brewers – 292 – Double, first reviewed in pack 46.
10 Checklist 661-792 – 791 – Double, first reviewed in pack 46.
11. Bill Swift – P – Mariners – 399 – Double, first reviewed in pack 46.
12. Terry Pendleton – 3B – Cardinals – 528 – Double, first reviewed in pack 6.
13. Don Slaught – C – Rangers – 761 – Double, first reviewed in pack 46.
14. Dickie Noles – P – Rangers – 388 – Double, first reviewed in pack 11.
15. Brunansky – OF – Twins – 565 – Double, first reviewed in pack 23.
What a let down from yesterday. I knew it was going to be a bust, the second I saw Brunansky as the bottom card. Oh well, lets rate this one a 0.5 star pack, not a lot of star power here and maybe I’m just still in a bad mood from my headache but I really was deflated after this one. Oh well, I am going to help my wife with dinner. I hope you enjoyed this one, even if it was a pretty short review.
