pack searching is bad.. but the idea that you shouldnt do it for kids is slightly off for a few reasons. i heard a searcher say they just give the cards to kids.. he doesnt get it. everyone is equal. everyone deserves a shot at having the better cards and in an ok condition.

as for kids and jersey/auto cards, my opinion is that having them get any is bad for the hobby. it reinforces the newer trend the base cards=crap and youre only really collection to get a small % of a set. old time collectors can get a patch now and then and still have fun with it but remember what card collecting is about at the end of the day. so even though its disgusting seeing kids going the wrong way would make me want to out search them . (i wont obviously though)

personally, i really don’t have a problem with the kids doing this. i mean, i remember when i was their age, one pack didn’t cost my entire week’s lunch money. the highest price was three bucks. so if a kid wants to search a pack to make sure their money they’ve saved up is going to ensure they get more than a shoddy pack full of base cards, let ‘em at it.

Well, whatever feelings of guilt I may have had over it are gone now, not that I’m remotely good at it anyway. It only ever worked once, and it might’ve just been plain dumb luck. All I got for the time I wasted searching was a bad hit, unfortunate though it is that Jeff Bagwell counts as a bad hit.
