Why go after this autograph: I had to go after him, he was the 6th overall pick in the draft. Plus I had heard that he took a while to return signatures. He was the 2nd high schooler taken behind Beckham. Both of them are having some growing pains in the minors, but I expect those things to work themselves out this off season. This is why players like Eric Hosmer have to play short season ball after the draft. They say that he projects to a Joe Mauer type player. But Mauer is so athletically gifted, that I just don’t see it. Instead if he continues to progress through the minors, look for more of a BJ Surhoff type player. Not that it’s a bad comparison, but I don’t see him as a +0.300 hitter, instead I see him as a 0.280/20/75 guy. I’m curious what you think.

That’s pretty quick in the world of TTMs. Most autos come back within a month if they are going to be signed. I got lucky I sent it out the day he signed and knew where he was going to be assigned. He was the first of the first rounders to sign for me.
