Two times in one week.  I wrote about the last no hitter earlier this week here. Last night there was another no hitter.  Either the pitching this year has been really amazing or the hitting is really bad.  I just don’t remember so many no hitters in a single season.  Last night’s no hitter was another combined one.  Daniel Duffy threw the first 6 innings and Juan Abreu came in and slammed the door shut for the final 3 innings.

Danny and Juan are probably the best two pitchers on the team and have been dominating the Midwest League together all season.  So far this year Danny has put up a record of 7-4/2.48/1.02 including 87 K’s in 76 inning pitched.  He was selected in the 7th round of last year’s draft by the Royals.  Juan so far this year has put up a record of 4-4/3.66/1.32 including an OBA of 0.214.  Combined the two have only let up 19 runs in their past 20 games. So I guess it was going to happen that these two would turn in a no hitter, their numbers have pointed to it all season.

Danny has a few cards available, through both Just Minors and Bowman.  Juan doesn’t have any cards at least that I could find. I could easily see Danny making it to the majors within the next two years. As for Juan, he could easily make it up as well but I think that Danny has a higher up value right now.  Danny could be a 2 or 3  pitcher not quite having enough to be an ace, he should be fairly serviceable.  Juan looks like long relief or a 5 spot starter to me.
