Names: Jake Arrieta / Matt Wieters

Position: Arrieta – P / Wieters  – C

Team: Both are in the Orioles minor league system, they played together for the Frederick Keys last season.

Age: Both are currently 22 years old.

Best Season: Both just finished their first season Arrieta went 6-5/2.87/1.16 struck out 120 batters in 11 innings. Wieters went 0.355/27/91 at two minor league levels (A+ and AA).

Set it’s from: None, the guys over at autograph card store store acquired these signatures in person at a Fredrick Keys game.

How obtained: eBay auction

Why this Card?: If this was a card from Topps or Upper Deck it would be selling for close to $100.  Wieters was this year’s minor league player of the year, and without a doubt could be in the majors very early next season.  Catchers who hit like Piazza did in his prime, don’t spend too much time in the minors, in fact he could be a sleeper for opening day next season.  As far as Arrieta, he put together a nice season and should move up the minor league chain quick at this point, with his arrival in Baltimore, coming towards the middle of next season.  Both players could become superstars which is why I am jazzed about finding this card.

But What About the Set?: It doesn’t come from a set, instead, take a look at the autograph card store ebay site.  You will find autographed cards of tons of prospects.  I know it seems like I shill for this company, but in reality I pay for all my auctions and only ask for bonus packs of blank cards (when I buy some of my own).  I just think that these two guys put a lot of effort into both the ebay side of the business and the blank card part of the business.  They will be getting some Arizona Fall League prospects very soon so keep your eyes open.

Beckett’s Value: NA

eBay Value: I got it for $6.99 I believe (I couldn’t find it in my ebay bought list)
