Why go after this autograph: It’s George freaking Blanda, the guy is a living legend, you have to go for it. We are talking about a guy that played professional football for 26 years, not only as a quarterback, but also a kicker and a linebacker. Can you imagine, anyone with that kind of versatility in today’s game? Can you imagine a QB being demoted to a kicker in todays game? Well he did it. Not only was he a decent QB (19th all time career TD’s not to mention an amazing 17th all time in TD%). Just so you know how that stacks up Tom Brady is 28th all time in TD passes and is 29th in TD%. Now throw in the fact that he was one of the best kickers in his time (or all time, 14th all time in field goals made) and you have one freakishly good player. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1981. It kind of sucks that he filled out the back of the card instead of the front, but you know what? I’ll take it. It’s not that you get a living legend autograph everyday.
