Why is This Card a Must Have?: My roommate Ed, was a huge Braves fan and had a serious man crush on Murphy. He had a Murphy jersey and an old school Braves had. He used to tell us we were watching a future Hall of Famer. The sad truth is that he never made it in. We all know the arguments, he deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. All I need to say is 2 MVPs. Of all the multiple MVP award winners who are eligable to get in the Hall of Fame, Dale is the only one not in. He had almost 400 homers,over 2100 hits, 7 All Star appearances, 5 Gold Glove and 4 Silver Slugger awards. The real thing holding him back is the 0.265 career average. I just remember in the early days of fantasy baseball, I always got him in the later rounds and he always pumped out a solid season for me. I think some day his luck will change,it’s going to be a call from the Veteran’s Committee if it’s going to happen though.
On a Scale of 1 to 10, How Must Have Is This Card?: An 8, it’s definitely a must have card, I don’t care if he never gets into the Hall, in the 80′s you could count on Death, Taxes and Dale Murphy leading the Braves. Go get it on eBay for $1 on eBay.
I need to get this card!!! Murphy is one of the first players I followed on a daily basis when I was a kid.
