Player: Bret Saberhagen

Set: 1984 Fleer and Topps Updates

Card Number: U103 and 104T respectively

Why is This Card is a Must Have?: Some people are going to disagree with me on this one, but he is a 2 time Cy Young award winner, 1985 World Series MVP, and in his 16 year career he only lost more than 10 games 4 times.  His career WHIP of 1.14 is outstanding and good for 47th All Time.  9 times he won more than 10 games, and  when he was on the Royals, he was definitely one of the  most dominating pitchers in baseball (at least every other year). One of my favorite Saberhagen moments was his appearance, along with Kieth Hernandez in the movie The Scout.  Of course Brandon Frasor hit home runs off him, which is pretty far fetched, but it was funny none the less.  In my mind he was one of the best pitchers of the 1980s and that’s why I had to put him on this list.

On a Scale of 1 to 10, How Must Have Are These Cards?: A 4, you have to wonder how well he would have done, minus the crzy every other year injuries he went through. You can find these cards for about a dollar or two on eBay,even though they are from tough to find update sets.

Have A Happy Thanksgiving!
