The Definitive Collection (Baseball Edition) – 1985 Ozzie Guillen
Player: Ozzie Guillen
Set: 1985 Fleer and Topps
Card Number: 48 and 43 respectively
Why is These Cards are Must Have?: OK here’s the deal with this one, defensively he was one of the best to play the game. in 1985 he won the rookie of the year award, not only for his defensive but also he was so popular. Amazingly I remembered him as a solid player along the lines of Jeter without the power. Really though, he was a very poor hitter, never hit more than 4 home runs or had more than 156 hits in a season. He did however have a very long career (16 seasons), 3 All Star appearances and 1 Gold Glove. Not to mention that as a manager, he has had lots of amazingly embarrassing sound bites. He did lead the White Sox to the 2005 World Series and has been a winning manager over his 5 seasons with the Sox (433-387).
On a Scale of 1 to 10, How Must Have Are These Cards?: A 1, really the only reason to get the card is because he will always remain a fan favorite and that when you see his card it will bring a smile to your face. You can find this card for about $1 on eBay.
