Player: Jamie Moyer
Set: 1987 Topps, Fleer and Donruss
Card Number: 227, 570, and 315 respectively
Why is These Cards are Must Have?: Jamie Moyer is an oddity. Usually player peak around the age of 27-29. Jamie didn’t hit his stride until he was traded to Seattle and he was 34. Since then he has performed wonders with the ball. He has won more than 20 games twice, he was in the top 10 in MVP voting in 3 seasons, and made one All Star appearance. At 45 years old he was the oldest player in baseball last season. He also shows no signs of slowing down. So when will this ageless wonder retire? Why should he, at 45 he went 16-7 with a 3.27 ERA and was one of the most consistent pitchers on a World Series winning pitching staff. He deceptive delivery has been keeping hitters off balance for years and to be completely honest could keep them at bay for a few more years. He is also oneof the nicest through the mail signers as I have seen a ton of them on the blogs and forums. He proved his nice guy status while the Phillies played the Marlins and Mario got him autographing on tape, which is great considering they were the visiting team. One of the truly nice guys in baseball, I hope he sticks around for a few more years. Wouldn’t it be cool if he pitches until he’s 50? He sits at 246 wins in 22 seasons, meaning he could get close to 300 wins. I don’t think he will, but he might have enough in the tank to push it to 275 which would definitely put him in Hall of Fame range.
On a Scale of 1 to 10, How Must Have Are These Cards?: A 6, for now, another good season puts him at a 7 and if he does make it to 275 wins he is a solid 8. You can find these card for no more than $1 on eBay.

How can the Chicago Cubs cannot have won a world series?
Look at the last 3 cards in the definitive collection, they all have something in common. Bad ownership and management just might have something to do with it.
Now that Maddux is retired are the 87 Moyer’s the oldest baseball cards available of an active player?
I doubt Moyer puts together another season like 08, but I hope he can contribute to the Phils or another team for the next couple of years. he has been a true joy to watch.
I agree – Jamie is a great TTM signer and even though he is Phllie – I find myself hoping he returns and keeps up his wonderful career
