I haven’t done one of these in a while but it’s not everyday you get to break a $20 pack from Target. Mrs.Chemgod has been on a real hockey tear of late and when given the choice between Upper Deck Black Diamond 3 pack for $9.99 or Upper Deck Trilogy for $19.99. Being she wanted the thrill of opening a “higher end” product, she opted for the Trilogy. The hook is you get either a jersey card, autograph or a serial numbered rookie card in every pack. By only getting 4 cards, you are hoping the “hit” is worth at least $20. Here is a looksy at what we got:

Mark Streit – Currently an Islander and a very good defensiveman currently averaging about 0.75points/game on a very bad Islanders team.

Cristobal Huet - Not a bad goaltender, currently spitting time in Chicago with Khabiboulin. He has played for an array of teams over the past few years, can’t seem to lock down the number 1 job anywhere.

Evgeni Malkin – Although it is difficult to see it from this picture, the card is about a quarter inch thick and is make of plexiglass (acetate). It is numbered to 799. It’s a real neat card to see in person. This is a good hit of a decent player, the secondary market of these cards are going from about $10 a piece. So BV should be about $50 (LOL).

Joe Thornton – This was our one per pack hit card. I like Joe Thornton so to me this is a nice card. However the card is supposed to be 2 way threads (home and away jerseys) and both fabrics are white, which is a bit puzzling since you would be hard pressed to find a swatch size piece of white on the home jerseys.
Overall I think the pack was fun to open. I’m sure it’snot worth the $19.99 we paid for the pack but it does have some nice cards, even the base set is pretty nice. I’m not sure if we would buy another pack, but we definitely wouldn’t get a box of this stuff (~$180 per box). THereis no way you are going to get $80 worth of items out of it. Has anyone else opened a pack of these? What did you get?
