Player Name: Luis Gonzalezs
Card Sets: 1991 Bowman, Donruss, Fleer, Score Rookies, Stadium Club, Topps Traded, Ultra and Upper Deck
Card Numbers:550, 690, 507, 82T, 576, 48T, 82, and 567
Why are these cards must have?: Last season was Luis’s 19th in the majors, he has close to 2600 hits, and should play at least one more season. His stats are interesting in that you can make a case for him to get into the Hall of Fame. He doesn’t deserve to go into the Hall, but you can certainly argue he has the credentials. His resume includes 5 All Star appearances, one Silver slugger, and his career statline is 0.283/354/1439. There are 3 of his top 10 in the Hall of Fame and two that are borderline. All time he is 37th in games played, 82nd in runs, 76th in hits, 15th in doubles, 74th in home runs, 58th in RBIs, and 26th in extra base hits. He has been a team leader on every team he has been on. He always takes the rookies under his wing, he is very cordial with the media. In short he is a borderline player with above average likability. That could translate into extra votes for him come his time to be voted on. I don’t think he’ll get in but I bet the number of votes he gets will surprise you.
Scale of 1 – 10, how must have are these cards: 6, let’s be realistic, he is an above average player. As such he gets an above average score. The Ultra card books for $1.50, but on eBay none of his cards are going for more than a dollar (even graded).

Accumulating stats counts too.
Bur I agree, barring an incredible year he is probably a just miss – Probably one of the few members of the 2500 hit 350 Homer club.
Lets not forget he has a World Series Ring and he had the game winning hit in that series (2001).
