Player Name: Eric Karros
Card Sets: 1991 Bowman, Ultra and Upper Deck
Card Numbers: 604, 380 and 24
Why are these cards must have?: Eric is another one of those under appreciated ballplayers. He played from1991 to 2004. His numbers even surprised me. I guess I just forgot just what a force he was on those Dodgers teams of the 90s. Let’s take a look at his resume. He had a Rookie of the Year award, and one Silver Slugger award. His career numbers were 0.268/284/1027. He only played 14 seasons, but in his prime he was averaging 0.269/26/90. He was so quiet and those Dodger teams had so much personality from Martinez to Piazza to Mondesi to Nomo, Karros just wasn’t as vocal as those other players. His top three most comparable are Kent Hrbek, Frank Thomas, and George Bell, which is somepretty good company. He’s not Hall worthy, but overall he had himself a solid career.
Scale of 1 – 10, how must have are these cards: 4, I was originally going to give him a 5, but the lackof All Star appearances and more post season hardware held me back. A very solid career, but not even close to Hall worthy. The Bowmana card books for $1.50, but on eBay none of his cards are going for more than a dollar (even graded).

His numbers surprise ME. And I’m a Dodger fan.
he will always be one of my favorite dodgers to watch growing up in so cal
