My wife has been asking me to write some hockey posts.  So I decided that one of the best ways to show my love for hockey is to show you who I am a fan of.  I follow a few teams, mainly the local (to me) Carolina Hurricanes, and the NJ Devils.  My wife enjoys watch the Montreal Canadians and the Minnesota Wild.  Among the other teams in our Center Ice viewing rotation are the San Jose Sharks, Florida Panthers, Columbus Blue Jackets, Boston Bruins, Chicago Blackhawks, and the LA Kings.  The reason we watch some many teams is simple each of the teams have one or more player who we consider high energy guys.  Guys that seem to always be in the middle of all the action when they are on the ice.  The first guy I want to list is Cal Clutterbuck.

Player’s Name: Cal Clutterbuck

Player’s Team: Minnesota Wild

Player’s Season Stats: 7 goals / 3 assists / 10 points, he leads the league in hits/game, yet only has 24 penalty minutes.

Why he is one of our favorite players: No matter how many Wild games we watch, he is always right in the middle of everything.  His stats may not show it, but he has set up a ton of goals, by creating screens and laying down incredibly timed hits.  While in the juniors he has rolled up point totals of 68 and 89 points.  So he is fully capable of offense.  I think as he gets more time with the Wild and moves up the lines you are going to see some great numbers out of him. We sent him a through the mail request earlier in the season.  We have our fingers crossed that we get it back.  If we do, I’ll get it up on the website the day I get it back.

How much are his cards going for: His rookie (from 2007 – 2008 releases) cards are running about a dollar each.  His only autograph card and game used card is the 07/08 The Cup rookie card.  They are running between $15 – $20 and they look fantastic (see below).

  1. Nick says:

Did you send him an autograph card, or was it provided by Cal? Also, did you write him a letter and/or send a self addressed stamped envelope?

Please email me @ nick.kosson@yahoo.com if you could.

    Thanks!
