Since I’ve been getting a bit of hate mail lately I think I should explain why I write about Craigslist idiots.

1. Why do you write these? If you don’t like the price why even write these people?

First off I don’t randomly pick a target on CL.  Instead there are certain criteria that have to be met before I will go after someone.

  • They have no idea what they are selling, but they are selling it for a lot.
  • They know what they are selling is junk and are just looking for a sucker.
  • They want more than $100, and only make an effort in their ad to write one line of text.
  • Anything from the late 80s and early 90s for more than a penny a card on average.
  • A Sportscard Uncensored version of Joe Collector.

I will not go after anyone if:

  • They go into very specific details about what the are selling.
  • Selling anything outside of the late 80s / early 90s junk wax.
  • Are within 20% of book value.
  • Memorabilia included with the cards

2. Why do you get their hopes up first?  Only to bring them down in the end?

I am hoping it makes them think about what they are selling and how much it’s really worth.

3. What is the deal with the video bomb?

I didn’t make it, but I think it brings a strong message across as to what those cards are really worth.

4. Are you a jerk in real life too?

Yes.

5. Are you going to video tape these at any point?

I was thinking about doing it, but it would ruin my cover.

6. Aren’t you worried it’s going to backfire on you and you are going to get your butt kicked.

You bet I am.

7. Can you make this an everyday thing?

No, it takes so long to interact with the marks that sometimes, I will have to go a few days without posting anything.  I don’t want to burn this idea out, so I am trying to limit it to no more than every other day.

8. Can I do the same thing on my blog?

It’s a free country so I can’t say no, but if you are going to do it, don’t beat it to death and please give me credit.  In a perfect world I would like to keep this as mine, but I know there are going to be copy cats out there.  It’s OK, I just hope that my wit and satire will keep you coming back to the original.

Thanks so much for the feedback on these posts.  I love to do them and I love hearing what other people think about them as well.

These are great! I love when jackballs like these are exposed. Mario exposed a dirtbag on ebay that was selling an image of a Seaver rookie card. Thats right, a picture of the card…for something like $5000. Never stop exposing these morons. It’s fun. Peace.

Are you serious that you have been asked these questions?!?!
F@^% them. The answer to all of those ridiculous questions is, “because it’s funny you idiot, now piss off.”

You know, I like the CONCEPT of people, but invariably people always seem to ruin that CONCEPT

Funny to see all these same cards that I collected and how little they are worth!!! Funny but sad, however I have taken it upon myself to up the value, at least to me, by trying my best to get as many autographed!! While they’ll never be authenticated, at least it’ll be better than nothing!! Also kind of nice to see the old players again, usually at minor league games and what not!!

Which is how I came across your blog in the first place!!
