Why are these cards a must have?: Shannon never really got the accolades he deserved. As a lead off hitter he propelled several Blue Jay teams to high finishes in the tough AL East. When he was traded in 2003 to the Twins, he became that must have lead off hitter that the Twins desperately needed. He lead the Twins past the White Sox in 2003 and 2004 and into the ALDS against the Yankees where the Twins finally lost both times. He lost his wheels after several hamstring injuries, at 34 though and back on the Blue Jays, his best years are behind him as he is now a back up. He might still try and grind out some more years, but with a lack of speed and his bat speed has diminished as well, he is just a shell of his old self. His career went by so quickly, but you know he deserves to be on this list. In his prime he was always that must have spark plug at the top of the lineup.
On a scale of 1 – 10, how must have are these cards: 2, a guy that fit in no matter which team he played on. A leader in the true sense of the word both on and off the field. These cards goes for anywhere from $0.75 – $1.50 in the book, on eBay they run anywhere from $0.50 – $1. A borderline must have player, but still makes the list.
