Player Name: Jermaine Dye
Set From: 1994 Bowman
Card Number: 594
Why is this card a must have?: At first I couldn’t think of why I would want to put this card on here. I was trying to think, was he good enough to put on here. So I went over to Baseball Reference and looked up his stats, and I realized he is yet another 1994 Bowman rookie who is way unheralded. Did you know that in his 13 seasons he has a career statline of 0.276/298/991. He has 2 All Star selections, 1 Gold Glove, and 1 Silver Slugger, and 1 World Series MVP. He’ll be 35 this season. He’ll hit another 30 or so homers, 80 or so RBIs and get 150+ hits, and for yet another year he’ll be forgotten as to how good a player he actually is. As far as how many more of these he can crank out? I don’t know maybe 3 more years. Not a Hall of Famer, but definitely better than at least I remember him for.
On a scale of 1 – 10, how must have is this card: 7, I think it even surprised me as to how good his stats really are. On the secondary market these cards are going for near book value if not more. The cards go for $5 in the book, on eBay they are at $4 – $6. The graded versions go for as much as $35.

AGREED! Jermaine Dye is probably one of the most underrated baseball players ever! The SOX talk about trading him every year..everyone I ask about it says the same thing.. THEY’RE CRAZY!! Congrats on the nice auto!
