Player Name: Andruw Jones

Sets From: 1995 Bowman, Bowman’s Best, Best

Card Numbers: 23, B7

Why are these cards a must have?: Coming off what can only be described as one of the single worst performances after signing a lucrative contract, where does it go from here? To Texas! He is name a member of the Texas Rangers even though he is still drawing a salary from the Dodgers until 2014 (technically, even though they probably paid out his contract).  He accepted a $500,000 contract with an extra million in incentives, if he performs in the majors. I have to tell you though, after his last season with the Braves and before he signed the huge contract, I thought he was definitely going to get to the 600 homer plateau. He had almost 370 at that point and was going to friendlier confines.  Instead he imploded big time!  His career numbers are 0.259/371/1131 and 1716 hits. At only 31 he has a chance to not only hit 500 homers but also get 3000 hits.  In many eyes his career is already over.  But never count out a comeback.  Personally I think if he straightens himself out, he can play another 6 years or so.  At least to get to the 500 home run mark.

On a scale of 1 – 10, how must have are these cards: 6, If you just looked at his numbers before LA, he’s an 8 with a chance for 10 status when he retired.  The implode killed all that now he’s a 6 with a chance for a 5 if he doesn’t get better. His cards book for between $20-$50 and on eBay you can get then from anywhere from $5 – $10, the autograph might run you about $5.  Oh how the mighty have fallen.
