Why are these cards a must have?: I think any pitcher that pitches well up to when he’s 30 years old deserves to be on this list.  Now with Matt I am kind of biased, I watched him when he pitched for Seton Hall.  Matt was very good right up until he turned 30.  Today’s pitchers are like football running backs.  When they turn 30 the magic in their arm is gone.  Matt has a decent enough resume, 2nd in ROY voting, 3rd in Cy Young voting, and 2 All Star selections.  His best season was 2001 when he went 22-8/3.16/1.26 with 185 strikeouts, that was the year he was 3rd in Cy Young voting and 14th in MVP voting.  Last season Matt was on the Pirates and before the end of the first season he was released.  He retired on May 1, 2008.  His big problem was his shoulder stemming from an injury he suffered at the end of 2004.  Although the year he came back he pitched well, the next 2 years were fairly poor, until the Pirates finally released him.

On a scale of 1 – 10, how must have are these cards: 2, hey he’s on the list right.  Like I said I’m biased because I followed his career from college to the pros.  His cards run in the $2 range in the book, but on eBay and other sites you can have them for as little as a quarter.
