The last two packs contained some long range prospects.  Let’s see how these two packs do.  Here is pack 9:

itg-pack-9

Jakub Voracek – Blue Jackets – RW – 2007 – 1st round – Jakub had two monster seasons in the juniors before he was drafted by the Blue Jackets.  Last season he went 33-68-101.  It was no surprise that he ended up in Columbus this year, where so far he has gone 9-26-35 in 71 games. He should prove to be a solid winger and it looks like he has a nice career ahead of him.

Teemu Selanne – RW -  Ducks – a sure fire Hall of Fame player.  He has moved around the league quite a bit these last few years, but he produces where ever he goes.  His career stats are 575-628-1203, with a few 100+ point season.  I just remember him being such a force when he was with Winnepeg, one of the true stars of the future.  It’s good to see that he didn’t let me down, I like this card, even if it pictures him in a hideous uniform.

Sergei Kostitsyn – RW – Canadiens – 2005 – 7th round – Both this year and last year he has been up and down.  Most of the time was spent with the Canadiens.  He is not the dynamo that he was in Hamilton, where he put up 40-91-131 in his final season.  So far this season he has gone 8-15-23 in mostly 3rd and 4th line time with the Canadiens.

Jared Cowen – D – Draft Eligible in 2009 – Jared is already showing signs of being an excellent defensiveman.  Last season for the Spokane Chiefs he went 4-14-18, and this year it was more of the same when he went 7-14-21.  He should be taken in the first round of this upcoming draft.  He will end up in AHL for cetain but he should be out of the juniors next season.

Chris Stewart – RW – Avalanche – 2006 – 1st round – This season was a big season for Chris as he is currently playing for the Avalanche.  He put up a nice season for the Lake Erie Monsters when he went 25-19-44.  He started off the season hot for the Monsters again and when the injury bug bit the Avalanche he was called up.  So far this year he has gone 10-8-18.  Not bad for a mid season call up.

Next, we have pack 10 as pictured below:

itg-pack-10

Darren Haydar - Calder Cup Heroes – Darren is currently with the Atlanta Thrashers and is far from a prospect as he is nearly 30 years old.  He is however one of the best AHL players and year after year he has put up some great numbers.  He has had his taste of the pros, but most of his career has been spent in the minors.  This card represents his time with the Wolves when they won the Calder Cup.

Thomas Hickey – D – Kings – 2007 – 4th round – Thomas had a great season with the Seattle Thunderbirds last season.  He went 11-34-45 and was a force from the point.  This season was his fifth with the Thunderbirds and so far he has gone 16-35-51, in what should be his last junior season.

Michael Del Zotto – D – Rangers – 2008 – first round – Michael had himself a great season last season for Oshawa on what was a very good team.  He was 16-47-63 playing form the point.  This season he started the season with the Generals only to be traded with Jon Tavares to the Knights.  Between both teams this year, it hasn’t slowed him down as he went 13-50-63.  He should be in either the AHL or NHL starting next season.

Karl Alzner – D – Capitals – 2007 – 1st round – Last year for the Hitmen he went 7-29-36.  The Caps liked what they saw and brought him up to the NHL.  he was burried on the lines and only put up 1-4-5.  Mid year he was send down to AHL Hersey for some more conditioning.  Expect more out of him next year as he should be ready for the NHL full time.

Alex Pietrangelo – D – Blues – 1st round – Love this guy, I think in time he could become one of the best D guys in the NHL.  Last season for the Niagra Icedogs he went 13-40-53, this season he started with the Ice Dogs where he went 8-21-29, then was called up to the Blues.  Unfortunately he got injured missed a big chunk of time and is now helping Niagra in the playoffs.  Next year he should be a Blue.

Pack Review – 3.0/5.0 – Nothing flashy but some solid prospects and one great hero.
