Player Name: Prince Fielder
Set From: 2002 Upper Deck Prospect Premieres
Why is this card a must have?: Prince is one of my all time favorite players. Every year he is a must have on my fantasy team. He’s a guy that is going to give you 0.280/30/100 every season for the next 10 years. Although still very early in his career, he is going to be a member of the 500 home run club. I’ve gotten to see him play a few times and am just blown away every time I see him play. His swing is so effortless and he is just one of those guys that you stop and watch when he gets up to the plate. He is capable of going yard in every at bat. Over the course of his 4 year career, he has an All Star selection, a Silver Slugger award and 2 MVP finishes. At only 23 he led the NL in home runs with 50 (in just his 2nd full year). I don’t think 50 is going to be the norm for him but I can’t see why he can’t put up 40 in a season. He seems to have adjusted to pitchers pretty well and should be a mainstay at first base for the Brew Crew for years to come. This card is his XRC card, but it’s a year before any other set picks him up. I just love the design, but I might be alone there.
On a scale of 1 – 10, how must have is this card: 5, it is still very early in his career and to rank it any higher than that would be irresponsible. In the book it runs about $200, on eBay they seem to be running anywhere from $75 – $250, of course you can expect to pay more depending on grade and population.

You neglected to mention that Prince is one of the few (if not the only) vegetarians in MLB. This ins’t of terrible consiquence to me, however, it does get my girlfriend (who is also a vegetarian and also left-handed) to pay attention every few innings.
Now is he a vegaterian, because his girlfriend is a vegetarian. Just looking at him, you’d think he took down a steak or two.
“Isn’t”
I think he’s back on the meat wagon. I have nothing to base that on, but I thought I heard it a few months ago. It probably wouldn’t be a hot news topic anyway.
No, Prince isn’t “back on the meat wagon.” He still eats alot of junk food though, given that in one of the interviews I read of his he talked about eating at least a big bag of licorice every day.
I have known kids that are vegitarians and are still huge. It’s all about what else you eat and you bodys metabolism(sp). I still think he wears the same uniform he wore when he was bigger tho it looks like it slows him down when he runs haha
I like watching Prince Fielder… too bad he didn’t sign for anybody the day I saw him in spring training.
