Why this Card?: First off I am a Ryan Getzlaf fan, so for me this was a no brainer. I was actually just looking for a jersey card of him and stumbled across this gem. What drew me in were the strange pieces of jerseys in the card. First the orange swatch, what is that from? I just don’t know which jersey it could have possibly come from other than maybe his minor league team? Also the reason I love patch cards so much is trying to figure out what part of the jersey it is from. My guess is it’s from his nameplate but really it could be from anywhere. If anyone out there can figure it out (either the orange swatch or the patch leave a comment). As far as the card design goes, I really like what this card looks like. Nice big picture of the player, two completely different swatches, the serial number that refracts right in the center bottom of the card. I just love the layout and that is a major factor of what lured me in.
But What About the Set?: 2008-09 UD Artifacts boxes run about a 65 bucks. They contain 10 packs with 4 cards per pack. You get 3 jersey or patch cards, 2 rookie cards, 1 rookie redemption card, one auto card, and 2 serial numbered cards. Actually running about $7 a hit you get decent value for the box.

Wow…that was a steal! Despite his abilities he still has gone relatively unnoticed in the hobby world. I hope that you decide to do a group break with some hockey wax!
I do I just have to make sure there is a big enough following for it. I want to break an artifacts box, but the price per pack would be pretty high (like $9 a pack). Of course you will get a “hit” in every pack.
Artifacts is a pretty decent product, probably not my first choice but I can see what you are saying with the cost per pack being a little high. If you want to do a “higher” end box break, SP Authentic or Trilogy might be worth while as well, they are loaded with many autograph and jersey/patch cards.
Either way, I will be in when you decide to try one in the future!
Mike, that looks like the collar of their darker jerseys. They’ve been wearing them since ’07.

The Anaheim ducks wear orange and white practice jerseys for the past 3 seasons. I don’t have any photos because they won’t let take any when they practice at Disney ice. Hope this helps you.
