Why this Card?: I have been a Jason Jennings fan since he won the Rookie of the Year award in 2002. Even though he hasn’t been as successful as that rookie campaign, I have always followed him. I still remember that magical 2002 season he had. It seemed incredible that any pitcher could pitch well in Coors Field, there there was Jason rolling up a fantastic season. Since his Rockies days he has been on the Astros and Rangers. His starting days are over and now he is working out of the bullpen. He may not be in this league too much longer but at least I have a patch from his Rockies jersey which is how I prefer to remember him.
But What About the Set?: 2005 Donruss Prime Patches boxes run about a 230 bucks. They contain 4 packs with 3 cards per pack. You get 8 jersey or autographed cards. At nearly $30 a hit not quite the value you would expect to get. Buy all the patches on the scondary market and save a fortune.

Cool idea on the patches. Just don’t drive up the prices on my Hank Blalock patches. I’ve started collecting him now that I’ve been priced out of the Adrian Gonzalez market.
Very nice! One of my favorite “regular” relic cards is a Jennings purple jersey swatch… I suppose a solid alternate color is the next best thing to a stripe.
Of course, nothing compares to the almighty patch! If I ever pull one I’ll let you know!
