We have two more packs to review today.  I do love these cards, and these 2 packs are a great reason why.

TRISTARPRO 061309 p1

Jason Heyward is a OF prospect for the Braves.  He was the 14th overal pick in the 2007 draft, and has been struting his stuff for the past season and a half.  Last year he went 0.315/11/26/15 with his time split between Rome and Myrtle Beach.  Myrtle Beach is where he is this season where is already has put up 0.311/9/22/4.  He turns 20 this year and still has some growing to do but should turn into a 0.300/20/70/20 kind of hitter.  Along the lines of say a Hunter Pence.

James Leverton is a pitching prospect with the Cubs.  He is a long shot prospect who has gone 2-7/5.76/1.54 with 31 strikeouts in 50 innings.  He is currently in Daytona, but has a long way to go to make it to the majors.

Pedro Alverez is a 3B prospect for the Pirates.  Pedro was the 2nd pick in the first round in the 2008 draft.  He is considered by many to have been the top overall player in the draft last year.  He is in Lynchburg this season and so far has put up 0.237/10/42/1.  We know he has the power, we need to find out whether or not he can post an average over 0.275.  This is a green parallel numbered to 50.

Seth Lintz a pitching prospect for the Brewers.  Seth last pitched last season in the AZL and had a rough time in his first season.  He went 0-3/6.87/2.05.  He will be in the rookie league again this season and needs to show improvment and fast.

Buster Posey is a catching prospect for the Giants.  He was the 5th overall pick in last year’s draft.  He is on the fast track to the majors and could be up as early as September.  In his first full season, he is hitting 0.310/10/44/5 for San Jose in high A ball.  His card tops off a fantastic pack.

Pack Rating:4.0/5.0 - The Posey, Heyward and numbered Alverez cards are fantastic!

TRISTARPRO 061309 p2

Tyler Chatwood is a pitching prospect for the Angels.  He had a rough start to his career in the rookie league last year, but this season has shown some promise in Cedar Rapids where he has gone 3-3/3.06/1.34.  He has the talent, let’s see where it takes him.

Jhoulys Chacin is a pitching prospect for the Rockies.  He had one of the best seasons last year in the minors for any pitchers.  He was 18-3/2.03/1.04 last season, but has fallen on hard times this season as so far he is 4-5/3.13/1.26 for AA Tulsa.  He is a solid pitcher and should eventually make the Rockies roster.

Jericho Jones is an OF prospect for the Cubs.  This card is a gold parallel numbered to just 5.  This season he has been injured but the Cubs expect big things from him.  Last season in the Rookie League he put up 0.340/5/30/2 in just 159 at bats.  I think this could be one of the more valuable cards from this set if he can do what he did last year.

David Francis is a pitching prospect for the Braves.  He put up a fantastic year last year for Danville 5-3/2.35/1.04.  This season he has been doing well in Rome where he has gone 3-2/2.82/1.41.  He has a long way to go but this is a great star for him.

Andrew Cashner is a pitching prospect for the Cubs.  He was the 19th overall pick in last season’s draft.  Last season was not his best, but this year under a tight pitch count, he has pitched extremely well.  So far for Daytona he is 0-0/2.10/1.20 with 24 strikeouts in 30 innings.  He is going to be a solid pitcher in the majors, but he is probably about 2 years away.

Pack Review – 3.0/5.0 – The Chacin, Jones, and Cashner are great finds.
