I have been busy trying to come up with a design for the Bad Wax football rookie cards. Below is my first try, I like how it came out but I am open to suggestions. I kicked around the idea of opening this up to the readers of the blog to come up with a cool football rookies template. First though I want feedback on this card. Of people don’t like it, then I will open it up to outside designs. Tomorrow I will come up with another design. So critique away!
I still may fill in the corners with black, but for now I will keep it as is. I wanted something simple but pops. Should be fun to send out as a custom TTM card. The bottom of the card just bothered me too much, I took a WalMart break and tried it again and I like this version much better. The color on the bottom would be the primary color of the team.
The top of the card is brilliant, but the bottom just doesn’t fit with the over all design.
I know, but I just don’t know what would fit well underneath.

Try changing the font of “2009 Highlight Reel Rookies”, the cursive letters don’t seem to fit in with the rest of the card.
version B with the blacked in corners, I like very much. It makes the bottom colour pop nicely. Green for the Jets, Yellow for the Steelers, etc….
I like this much more than the baseball version.

The highlight reel is a great idea. Between these two options, I like the black/squared corner look better, but I agree it could be tweaked a bit. I think there are some “highlight reel” insert sets out there. You may want to do a quick search just to get some basic ideas.
I know 1997/98 Skybox Z-Force had a reel set and I think there was one for football around then, but I can’t think of it right now.
Overall, this is really well done.
Way to start out with a great Trojan and a great guy. I would suggest tilting the film strip stock and placing the render over it you get the same idea but he would be flying off the film.
If Carson Palmer is healthy, then the Bengals are the Team to Beat in the North… forget about the Steelers! They only won last year because Carson wasn’t healthy!
