If you told me in January that Matthew Purke was going to last until the 14th pick of this draft, I would have called you crazy. But that was January and a lot has happened since then. First off he committed to TCU to play his college baseball. Of course money changes everything but he wants somewhere between 2 – 7 million in signing bonus. The Rangers would be smart to make him happy and get him in uniform ASAP, there is no other team that would be able to wrangle him in for cheap. His idol is Nolan Ryan so you know that gives the Rangers a little advantage since he is the GM. Overall he has a lively fastball and a solid curve. His mechanics are interesting but that can be worked on in the minors.
