Why this Card?: When I first started this blog I posted an autographed rookie card of Mike Lowell. Well someone emailed me and he wanted that card (among some others). I took him up on his offer since right now I am more into patch cards than autographs. I like Mike because he is a grinder, he’s a guy who hits 0.280/20/80 every season. He might eek it out one season but soar past it the next, but he gets it done. He is a fighter that I would take over guys like Alex Rodriguez any time. I met him the year he was drafted, as just a young man. I knew after meeting him he was going to be a great player. He may never get in the Hall of Fame, but in my book he’s already there.
But What About the Set?: 2004 Upper Deck Sweet Spot boxes run about $125 on eBay. They contain 12 packs with 4 cards per pack. You get at least one sweet spot signature card, and 2 game used patches / jerseys per box. On a level of dollars per hit, you’re looking at $35 a pop, very much on the high side, but some of the signature cards are fantastic.

That is a nice patch. It looks like someone actually took the time to make sure it was fairly centered in the window.
That’s a great looking card. I miss having Lowell as a member of my ‘home’ team!!!
