When I was a young chemgod, way before I even knew I wanted to be a chemgod, I was hooked on PC sports simulations.  I spent the majority of my junior high and even some of high school and college days, creating leagues and simming seasons using either Microleague Baseball or Earl Weaver Baseball for the PC.  If you know what a Commodore 64, Apple IIC or a PC with an 8088 processor is, and you liked baseball, chances are you heard of, played, and was addicted to Microleague Baseball.  Today while searching apps for my phone, I ran across one that was for the game Pennant Chase.

I had no idea of what the game was about but I am always up for fantasy baseball, no matter how you slice it.  So I went to check out the site pennantchase.com <link>, surf around for a little bit and my friends, it is microleague baseball for the next generation! Everything was there, even when you went to view a game, it had the cheesy graphical interface.  The only draw back is the games are simulated based on your coaching rules.

Today, I joined up for free, then joined a public league, and drafted my team.  The draft section is fun, because it only offers certain players.  I have what I think is a good team, but who knows.  There are 12 teams in the auto run leagues, and they sim two games a day for 2 months.  There are free agents, trades, and injuries.  There are also private leagues.  My goal for posting this is to get people to join, and if enough do, we can have a league that will go on for multiple seasons (and even has a league history). So go try it out, if you like it, leave a comment so I know who is signed up.  If enough people sign up and like it, let’s do a league.

Disclaimer: This is not an advertisment, I do like the game.  I do not own pennantchase.com nor do I have any affiliation with it. Just thought it would be a cool thing to post about.

I remember playing that one. I started out with tabletop games like Strat-O-Matic and APBA. When I got a Commodore 128 the only games available for it were Microleague Baseball and Earl Weaver Baseball. I played both of them and liked them. Now I’m back to playing Strat-O-Matic on PC.

You should give this site a shot, it’s free and like I said when we get enough players we can start our own league.
