I am a closet cycle head. I love watching the Tour De France each year, but when Lance Armstrong is involved it is so much more fun to watch. Of course if you haven’t heard yet, Armstrong’s team Astana took first and third in this year’s Tour De France. Lance has gone on record as saying that this year’s winner Alberto Contodor, was so good that he may not have won his 7 Tours if Alberto was racing him back then. Next year Armstrong will have his own team in team Radioshack. So far it’s just him and Thor Hushvold, but others will join him. What would be interesting is if Alberto joins Armstrong. Not sure if that would happen since they are both pretty ego driven, but that would make for a heck of a one – two punch since you know the Schleck brothers will be joining forces again.
I saw the design to Topps Ticket To Stardom set and I decided, why not give Lance a card from the set? So I designed this one using GIMP. If you like the design, just let me know and I can get you the file. I would love to do a cycling set using this design, as I do like it.
Somehow I missed this post when it first went up. I also LOVE watching the Tour each year. I didn’t realize that “The God of Thunder, Big Thor Hushvold” (I love when Phil Ligget says that) was joining Team Radioshack. That is already a dangerous duo. I also do not think Contador will be joining Armstrong again. There was too much competition between them this year as teammates for that to repeat.
I like this card. I also thought about creating an entire Tour set, featuring all 180 riders and maybe a stage winners subset. The idea is on hold right now with me buying a house and now having to move, but hopefully someday I can move forward with that plan…
