I am sick with the same flu like symptoms that everyone else in America has.  So I figured that I would bring up the best of the past week.

Dallas Braden Get’s 15 More Minutes

You throw a perfect game, the 19th in MLB history, and you get 15 minutes of fame.  Regardless of what Alex “Run Over The Pitcher’s Mound” says <link>.

“I think Major League Baseball reads the same articles as we do,” Rodriguez said. “Now, look, I really don’t want to extend his extra 15 minutes of fame.”

Then attempting to work fate again, he complained that Evan Longoria tried to break up a perfect game by bunting for a hit.  This time though, he picked on the wrong player as Longoria is pretty much loved.  I don’t think this is going to yield another perfect game but who knows.  Dallas’s cards went way up after the perfect game, the question is: Is this the real Dallas Braden? Or did he just get lucky? My stand is that he’s a 14-11/4.30/1.35 pitcher who throws some strikeouts.  His cards in the long run might get you $2 instead of $1 just because of the perfect game, but I wouldn’t expect more than that.

Sleepy Griffey Jr, Naps Through A Few Innings

I am pretty sure this has happened before, however never so publicly and never to a player of Griffey’s caliber.  If you haven’t read about this one just read this. <link>

The Griffey that a year ago helped build camaraderie in the Seattle clubhouse has taken a leave of absence this season. There have been times during games when he’s retired to the clubhouse, texted friends, watched the TV broadcast.

So why didn’t Wakamatsu go to Junior off the bench?

“He was asleep in the clubhouse,” one player said. “He’d gone back about the fifth inning to get a jacket and didn’t come back. I went back in about the seventh inning – and he was in his chair, sound asleep.”

If there has ever been a reason to hope and pray Griffey retires and soon this is it!  Can you say, lost desire to play the game?  How about milking a very generous Mariners team for a year that he shouldn’t have played?  This story is a disgrace and although it will have no affect on his election into the Hall of Fame, it should.  It is an excellent example of how not to go out.  Think this has an affect on his card prices? Forget it, they are still running high and always will.

Jamarcus Doesn’t Forget To Hit The Buffet On the Way Out

To the utter surprise of nearly . . . no one Jamarcus Russell has been released by the Raiders.  You know you are bad, when the worst run franchise in football, releases their former number one draft pick.  The best part is, that he passed through waivers which proves that it’s at least a season too late.  No one wants him, not for $9 million at least.  <link>

JaMarcus Russell cleared waivers, making him a free agent. Because his salary was more than $9 million, no team was going to claim him.

If he can find a team willing to sign him — CBSSports.com reported that the Colts may have interest — he isn’t likely to sign for more than the minimum league salary.

Forget about a homecoming for Russell, who played at LSU; Saints coach Sean Payton says he has no interest in the quarterback. …

Of course Payton has other things to worry about <link>.  So is the card below one of the biggest busts in card history?  First Jamarcus, next Brady Quinn will get exposed as an over rated college quarterback.  I wouldn’t pay more than maybe $5 for the card (even if it is a short print).

Well I am gonna go and hack up a lung now, thanks for stopping by and reading my drivel of the day!

JaMarcus/Brady dual auto card will likely go down the ultimate auto cards bust produced. Two hyped players on the draft neither done jack. I would rather have that dual ARod/Matt Bush auto card over that

Glad I picked up a Braden auto last summer for around $4 shipped. Sold it last night for $26.75 shipped. God I love it when the eBay wolves come out to fest on stuff like perfect games, cycles, ect.
