Let’s play another game of who would you rather.  Let’s make this one interesting.

Bryce Harper:

or

Joe Mauer

Both cards are worth about the same, but Mauer has proven himself at the big league level, all Harper has done is sign a contract.  My vote is for Mauer, even if the Harper might be worth more.  Who are you going to pick?

  1. You have to go with the Mauer. Harper could get Strasburg-itis, or worse yet, Prior-itis.

  2. Spankee says:

That’s really tough, because the Mauer card is kinda ugly and the Harper card is much better looking. Still, I’m going with the Mauer.

I would have to go with Mauer. He is as close to a sure thing as one can hope for. Harper’s intelligence is already questionable and there is always a chance he may not be able to make the adjustments to Major League pitching. Mauer seems to have his head on straight, he is a bonafied MVP and a locker room leader which just adds to his value.

  4. Mike says:

I’d go with Mauer, and not because I’m a Twins fan. My money will always go to proven players.

  5. Chris C. says:

Joe Mauer, he more humble was a leader and while learning the bigs his rookie year already a soild hitter and highly rated defensivly. Harper is more of a hitter, an OK game caller and good defensivly.
