You saw the teaser on the side of the blog. A couple of months ago I proposed the idea of a cut card Mystery Cuts release.  It was welcomed with a fairly strong approval, so since then I have been trying to get quality autographs for a decent set.  I have finally acquired what I need for a series one set.  Now all I have to do is design the cards.

Here is the product breakdown:

  • Only 40 packs will be made.
  • Each pack contains one cut card, 1 in every 5 packs will be a hot pack containing two cut cards.
  • Every cut autograph will be either a Hall of Famer , All Star, or Olympic Gold Medalist. In other words NO JUNK!
  • Every card is a 1/1.
  • Each card will be slabbed (I am working on this, if not slabbed then in a one touch Lucite case)
  • Readers get a say in the design of the card!

Partial Checklist:

  • Terry Bradshaw
  • Richard Petty
  • Bobby Clarke
  • Nate Archibald
  • Ozzie Newsome
  • Bobby Doerr
  • Mike Eruzione
  • Greg Louganis
  • Bruce Jenner
  • Bill Sharman
  • Lawrence Taylor
  • many more . . . .

So how much will each pack cost? How does $20 a pack sound? Think of that, for the price of a blaster you get a cut card of a decent player!  I am starting to make the cards next month, but should be done by February.  Shots of the cards will be placed on the site from time to time so you can track the progress.  If this is successful and people like it, there will be a Frankencuts II.

Why used Frankencuts as a name? Simple, all the autographs are on-card.  So instead of lamenting another set of cut autographs that are frankencards, I say embrace it, cut it, mount it and celebrate it! I am looking forward to getting the design made and the cards started.
