Awful Looking Rookie Card - 1979-80 Wayne Gretzky
The are certain cards I have always wanted to own and I would buy in any condition. I have a Dr. J rookie card from his ABA days which I only paid 5 bucks for, of course it’s a battered mess, but it’s still his rookie card. Well in my Craiglist searches I came across a Gretzky yesterday and bought it for 10 dollars. Here is the card:
I think this card was actually put in the spokes of a bicycle. The card is in terrible shape, but hey I now have my Gretzky rookie! If I had to grade this card it would definitely be sub 3. All the corners are rounded, 2 creases run the length of the card. There are various dents along the sides, and the photo is very subpar. In short, it’s terrible and I love it. If you have any card that are along the same line, send a pic of it to me (chemgod1000@yahoo.com) so we can poke fun at them. My next quest is a battered Jordan rookie (eBay had one for $112 last week. Let me know if you know of anyone with one in real bad shape.
